Hey,
This weeks blog is about tattooing. Go to the RSS feeds for the "Art Newspaper". Look up the book category, then you should see an article about "Body art: where beauty is literally skin deep." Read the article about tattooing and decide wheather or not you think that tattooing is an art. Go an extra step and look up the book on tattooing. These will be due on Friday at 4 p.m.

  1. I think that tattooing is an art. It involves designs and self-expression as do all other forms of art. I personally would never get a tattoo. I don't like the idea of self inflicting pain upon myself.

  2. I think it is an art because they get to do designes. They get payed to do do what they like on people. I guess it could not be to since they could get rid of it when ever they wanted to.

  3. I'm glad people are starting to see tattoos as an art instead of something to look down upon. Also I think it's a good thing that the designs are becoming more popular even if they're not on the body, because then people that don't want the pain of a tattoo can still have the design.

  4. I think that tattoos are considered an art b/c it can express a persons personality and what they enjoy. I think it's neat how people add their own creative ideas to their tattoos so it isn't just that image with no color or design.

  6. Yes, tattooing is a very complex art because not only do you have do make creative desings but you have to apply them on the surface of human skin using needles and ink. There are so many details and techniques used in the art of tattooing. Anyone who thinks that tattooing isn't a form of art needs to think again.

  7. Yes tattooing is definitely an art. You can choose whatever you would like, and most people choose something meaningful or something very stupid. I also think it is an art because you could go to school for tattooing. There are very many different kinds of books and it takes a lot of skill to do a tattoo. In addition, just like painting in a museum you can wear the tattoo on your skin and show it off. I think that tattooing has definitely because much more popular within the last 20 years, and it is great.

  10. I believe that tatooing is an art because it's an art work on the skin and since it's for life it normally has more meaning than just a drawing. Well unless your names Billy Ray and you get your ex's name or a beer brand on your shoulder.

  11. I really think that tatooing is an art, because it shows something individual and very personal about someone, who has a tatoo.
I won't call it body art, I would call a special image , because it is not on a paper, it is on the skin..
like art has a tatoo a lot of details, skills and all these things.

  12. Tattooing is definately an art. The guy who did mine talked about how he went to an art college and it really helped him with his career because he is able to make quality designs for the people. The tribal and stuff on my arm he just free handed with sharpie and made it pretty good i think.

  13. I think tattooing is an art since there are so many different ways to express tattoos. Just like art is a way to express yourself, so is tattooing. Also there are so many different designs that are possible and it is very detailed just like a piece of artwork is.

  14. Tattoing is an art. You have to make a design and transfer it to skin. It's a way to express yourself. It's like taking drawing to the next level.

  15. Well duh i do believe tattoos are art. They're art specially designed for someone. Tattoos are just like drawing with pens except you draw into skin. You have to be an extremely skilled artist to do tattoos and make a name for yourself. I wouldn't trust anyone with my tattoos. My tattoo is my favorite piece of artwork ever-- Thanks to Bacon.

  16. While some people choose to get tattoos for petty reasons, tattooing itself, I belief, is an art. Each tattoo, no matter how poorly done or insignificant, was crafted with someone's own hands and used as a form of expression for the tattoo artist and the person receiving the tattoo.

  19. I think tattooing in an art way, because people have talent to do draw and painting then they can do tattooing if they have a steady arm most people that do art have steady arms. So i would have to say tattooing is an art form and a good way to express their feelings and life to have tattoos.

  21. Tattoos are definitely a way of art. Not that I want one, but they express things the wearer feels. He/she can show things they care for in their own colors and feelings. They are an example of the person's personality.

  22. tattoos=art. plain ande simple. The people who get a certain tattoo, is expressing themselves in a personal way. it could be a tattoo in honor of someone or something like that. just becauseyou did not draw it does not mean its not art

  26. I love tattooing. I definately think it's an art. It's very personal and self-expressive. Just like poetry, anything can be considered art. I think this is one of the coolest ways to present art, especially when the tattoos have significant meanings.

  27. tatooing is DEFINANTLY an art it could ve a way to express the way you feel but just in a different situation. It is a body art to where the person wearing the tatoo could express how they feel or what they like just buy the way their tatoo looks.

  28. i think tatooing is an art because they are pictures that someone created. even if it is on skin, i would still defiantly say it is art.

  32. Tattooing is a work of art. It definitely is. I just don't care for when you get old, the tatoos look bad sometimes cause you are old and wrinkly. I don't think getting a tatoo is wrong but I don't think it is the best thing you should do for yourself. You can express yourself in other ways too.

  33. i do think tattooing is a art but it is a art that goes on your skin not paper. and its a very cool type of art too.

  34. Tattooing is art!!!! To the EXTREME!!! It takes all that skill and steady hands to create those masterpieces, and they also require the creativity and imagination of the people getting them. I myself want to get a tattoo across my back one day, but that wont be for awhile.

  35. i think that tattooing is definitely an art. some tattoos are ugly, but some are amazing and realistic.
sometimes they look like they are popping off the person's body.

    ReplyDelete
  36. i guess you can call tattoos art because they take a lot of skill to do. but i also think tattoos are for curtan people.

  37. I think that tattoos are cool and good way to express yourself and they also take a lot of talent to do

  38. I think that reguardless of the tattoo, it is still a form of art..It's not like there is a tattoo ARTIST that doesn't know how to draw... Having artwork that you design yourself is a kind of expression that shows you as a person... =D. however, to what extent you take that might be overboard.

  39. tatoos are definately a form of art and they are prominent in our culture today. they have been around for thousands of years and are a way to express yourself. id say that any way you can be creative and express yourself should be concidered art. i have several tatoos that i would like to get but only my designs and only because they would have deep meaning to me. tatoos that just look cool aren't worth anything to me if they have no meaning behind them.
